Lounge and Media Room Harmoniously as one

“We’d like the lounge to double up as a media room without speakers and AV equipment taking over the space. We would also like to avoid replacing the grand mirror – here on the centre wall – with a plasma. Although, we would like the screen to be viewable from all the sofas.”

Here at Couture Digital, problem solving is central to every project, seamlessly integrating technology and architecture is not as effortless as the finished result may imply, especially in retrofit environments. This Kensington couple are exemplary of many of our clients. They are not particularly interested in the technology; they just want to enjoy the benefits whilst fitting it around their considered interiors. For them, we designed an adequately powerful 5.1 surround sound system utilising small satellite speakers – in-ceiling speakers were not an option with the period ceiling they had – coupled with a 42” plasma TV automated on a motorised arm that extended out of the wall niche, and tilted to face the sofas. Integrating all the home entertainment and lighting control by a dynamic, colour-screen remote control made operation effortless. This solution was not audiophile grade or all systems encompassing but, it was perfect for what the client wanted, and thus a perfect result.
