Arcam, a world renowned and widely respected audio visual brand, have announced in the past few days that a number of products within their audio visual solutions range have received IMAX Enhanced certification.
The Arcam solutions to receive the IMAX Enhanced certification are the company’s current range of AV Receivers including the AVR390, AVR550 and AVR850, along with their AV860 AV Processor.
The new IMAX Enhanced certified technology is available now via a firmware update, and Arcam have become only the third company – after Denon and Marantz – to receive the certification.
What receiving IMAX Enhanced certification means for an AV product is that the solution meets certain defined (and high) standards of performance. Those stringent performance standards are established by IMAX, DTS and Hollywood’s leading colourists to create a consistent and higher bar for image and sound performance on these premium devices.
On the audio side, IMAX Enhanced ‘sound mode’ is a variant of the DTS:X codec. The IMAX/DTS:X sound mode will be triggered automatically when IMAX Enhanced content is detected.
IMAX will be releasing select titles from their catalogue of documentaries, in addition to working with its content partners (currently Sony and Paramount Pictures) to develop a range of IMAX Enhanced movies. Those movies and the other IMAX Enhanced content will be able to show off the quality of the certified solutions from Arcam and other AV brands.
