Tech giants Samsung are set to announce Control 4 certified driver support for its entire 2017 4K UHD TV, and the new UBD-M9700 4K UHD Blu-ray Player, at this week’s CEDIA 2017 trade show. The announcement represents an important new collaboration between the leading technology company and one of the world’s leading home automation specialists.
The incorporation of Control4 Simple Device Discovery Protocol (SDDP) software into Samsung’s Blu-ray and TV products, is set to have over-the-network firmware activation on QLED Series, MU Series, The Frame and the 4K player to follow. The Control 4 certified drivers, too, will promise “lightning-fast response times for consumers with little to no lag” as well as ad full access to the Samsung Smart Hub Command List.
The move looks set to make Samsung devices a far easier choice for any and all smart home projects. SDDP enabled devices, after all, can be automatically found, identified and authenticated by, as well as connected to, a Control 4 home automation system.
Speaking about the new collaboration, Control 4’s senior vice president of business development Jeff Dungan highlighted the company’s excitement at linking up with Samsung:
‘Control4 has long been dedicated to providing integrators and customers with the flexibility to include the very best consumer electronics, like those offered by Samsung, into a Control4 smart home…With the integration of SDDP and the new Control4 Certified drivers for Samsung devices, it is even easier for Control4 dealers to install and configure Samsung devices into Control4 projects and for consumers to be ensured of the best possible experience after the installation.’
