Crestron, a world leading automation and smart technology manufacturer, and Amazon Web Services have in the past few days announced the launch of Alexa for Business. Alexa for Business is a new Crestron enterprise Skill which lets employers and workers use Amazon Alexa to voice-enable their workplace.
According to the joint announcement from Crestron and Amazon Web Services, that means that workers across multiple industries can start a meeting simply by saying “Alexa, start my meeting” and can also use their voice for a range of other tasks, from launching a web conference to pulling up presentation materials on-screen.
Crestron and AWS have been working together for more than a year in the residential and hospitality markets, using voice control to optimise living situations. According to Crestron head of enterprise innovation Dan Jackson, therefore, it simply makes sense to take the next step into enterprise solutions:
‘Voice control is transforming the way we live and work, so the enterprise skill is a natural extension of our existing collaboration…People already love Amazon Alexa in their homes, and importantly, they already know how it works. We’re creating one consistent, responsive experience to anticipate your needs, no matter where you are.’
This most recent announcement from Crestron and Amazon Web Services let potential users know that their Alexa for Business skill is now immediately available in North America. There has yet to be word as to if and when the skill will head across the Atlantic. If it proves to be successful, however, British fans of Crestron and voice control in general will likely not have to wait long.
