Crestron, a world leading manufacturer of residential control and smart automation solutions, have this week announced the impending release of their new Crestron Pyng OS 2 operating system.
The new operating system will come built in to the company’s new CP3-R 3-Series Control System; a secure enterprise-grade control system for residential applications that’s due to start shipping in September.
The new OS 2 operating system will subsequent become available via an update to all existing Crestron Pyng Hubs and offers a range of exciting features. The system supports full integration of video control and distribution including Crestron DigitalMedia products, AVRs, local sources, set-top boxes, remote controls, and more.
As per Crestron’s release announcement, all of that means that Crestron smart homes will be able to boast unparalleled speed and user experience. Michael Short, Crestron’s global residential marketing manager, believes that Pyng OS 2 and the associated CP3-R system represent a real game changer:

It’s the only operating system integrators and their clients need, in any sized home…It brings together the full universe of best-in-class Crestron products in a complete whole home solution: lighting, motorized shades, audio, climate control, door locks, security, and now video, including Crestron DigitalMedia products.’
As well as being the first system to have the new Pyng OS 2 operating system built-in, Crestron’s upcoming CP3-R Control System includes a full complement of control ports to handle any sized home automation project, home theatre, multi-room video, or MDU application. That will allow it to integrate best-in-class Crestron hardware including audio, video, lighting, motorized shades, climate control, door locks, sensors, and other equipment.
