Crestron, a world leading provider of home automation and smart control solutions, have in the past few days announced an upcoming integration with Apple product lines Apple TV, Siri and HomeKit.
Announced at Apple’s WWDC 2018 conference and clearly a part of Crestron’s continued focus on embracing integration with 3rd parties, the integration is described as providing a next-generation user experience for Crestron home systems.
According to Crestron’s official announcement, the integration with Apple’s product lines will deliver two notable benefits to owners of Crestron home automation systems.
The first of those notable benefits is that homeowners with Crestron solutions will be provided with IP control of Apple TV, including voice commands via the TSR-310 touchscreen remote control.
Secondly, the newly announced integration will give homeowners the option of using Siri on their iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch, or HomePod to control lights, shades, thermostats and other Crestron devices within their home.
The integration is all about enhancing Crestron homeowners’ user experience, according to the company’s vice president of residential solutions:
‘We are working to ensure a complete technology solution for Crestron Technology Professionals and homeowners…An overwhelming percentage of our residential customers use Apple products as part of their home technology ecosystems, and delivering a seamless integration between Crestron technology and Apple solutions will absolutely enhance the homeowner’s user experience.’
Crestron’s integration with Apple product lines will be rolled out first in the US but is almost certain to eventually hit other shores. When that might be, however, is as yet unconfirmed.
