World leaders in smart control and automation solutions, Crestron, have announced an expansion of their ongoing partnership with technology giants Amazon. Aimed at introducing the power of Amazon Alexa to meeting rooms, the extension to the companies’ partnership sees the voice control technology introduced seamlessly to Crestron controlled offices and presentation spaces.
Crestron and Amazon have collaborated for close to a year in the residential arena but this announcement sees their first collective foray into the commercial realm. Introducing Amazon Alexa to a meeting space with a Crestron solution in place, a whole host of new and handy options are made available to users.
According to Crestron, for instance, presenters or employees will now be able to start a meeting with just one simple command. When they say ‘start a meeting’, too, they mean everything from dialling in to a voice or video call to pulling up presentation materials on the room’s display screen. Beyond this, what’s more, meeting attendees will also be able to simply use their voice to alter and control the room’s audio visual equipment, lighting and even the heating or air conditioning.
Speaking about the newly expanded partnership, Crestron director of enterprise technology Dan Jackson explained the potential of Amazon Alexa in a meeting room setting:
‘Meetings are a consistent source of frustration — if you can call a ride or order a pizza with the sound of your voice, why shouldn’t meetings work the same way? We’ve vowed to make the experience seamless – and voice control is an important component in making that happen. We’re excited to continue our work with Amazon to make living and working easier.’
