Extron Electronics, a leader in the fields of audio visual technology and enterprise solutions, have recently announced the introduction of their new NAV Series.
Described by the company as a ‘no-compromise Pro AV over IP platform’, the new NAV Series distributes and switches ultra-low latency, pixel perfect video, audio, and USB 2.0 signals over Ethernet networks.
According to Extron’s announcement, the NAV Series delivers ground breaking performance with visually lossless video over IP at resolutions up to 4K @ 60 Hz with 4:4:4 chroma sampling, thanks to the utilisation of Extron’s patented PURE3 codec.
The Intelligent Selective Streaming (ISS), which is a key component of PURE3, leverages low motion content to achieve extremely low bitrates while maintaining visually lossless performance.
Whereas other codecs can compromise in either image quality, bandwidth requirements, or latency, what’s more, Extron claim that PURE3 offers the best of all three with its simultaneous delivery of pixel perfect video, ultra-low latency, and bitrates that no other product can match.
Offering both 1 Gbps and 10 Gbps encoders and decoders with compatibility across both systems, the NAV Series can also deploy as a high-performance IP-based video and audio matrix. That allows the series to combine the flexibility of an IP-based system with the integration-friendly video and audio switching features found in conventional Extron matrix switchers.
Speaking about the introduction of the NAV Series, Extron’s vice president of global sales and marketing, Casey Hall, explained how and where the new platform can be implemented:
‘Our new NAV platform was purpose-built for the professional AV integrator, offering uncompromised quality and flexibility that works in virtually any environment…NAV empowers AV integrators to create mixed 1 Gbps and 10 Gbps Pro AV over IP applications that address a broader range of environments, delivering high-quality content with virtually no latency.’
