Extron Electronics, a market leading manufacturer of audio visual solutions, have in the past few days announced the immediate availability of a new compact four output distribution amplifier for multi-rate SDI digital video signals.
Named the Extron DA4 12G HD-SDI, the new distribution amplifier supports all common serial digital video data rates up to 11.88 Gbps, while passing HDR, embedded audio, and other ancillary data allowed by the SMPTE and ITU standards.
Automatic input cable equalisation allows for various different cable lengths for 12G-SDI digital video, when using RG6 cable. Automatic output re-clocking, too, reshapes and restores signal timing at each output for added headroom when connecting multiple devices.
In order to cater for a wide variety of different installation environments, the Extron DA4 12G HD-SDI is housed in a quarter rack width, metal enclosure, providing integration-friendly mounting options into both new and existing AV systems.
Speaking about the newly announced distribution amplifier, Extron’s vice president of global sales and marketing, Casey Hall, explained how the solution fits within the company’s wider AV range:
‘The DA4 12G HD-SDI supports the latest SMPTE standards and compliments our growing 12G-SDI product line…Customers now have a convenient option for sending 4K-capable, multi-rate SDI signals long distances to multiple locations in broadcast, production, medical imaging, and other demanding applications.’
